Swedish forward Viktor Gyökeres has been named the winner of the 2025 Gerd Müller Trophy at the ongoing Ballon d’Or ceremony.

Between August 1, 2024 and July 13, 2025, Viktor Gyökeres delivered staggering numbers: 58 appearances, 63 goals, and a goal every 77 minutes on average at Sporting Lisbon. Those figures earned him the men’s best striker award on Ballon d’Or night, making him one of the standout winners of this year’s gala.

Polish international Ewa Pajor joined him on the winners’ list, picking up the women’s version of the Gerd Müller Trophy after a prolific campaign of her own.

Meanwhile, FC Barcelona and Spanish 27-year-old star, Aitana Bonmati has been crowned the 2025 Women’s Ballon d’Or winner.

Hannah Hampton Tops Women’s Goalkeeper Rankings

In the women’s Yachine Trophy category, England’s Hannah Hampton claimed the top spot to be named the best goalkeeper in the world.

She finished ahead of Germany’s Ann-Katrin Berger and Barcelona’s Cata Coll.

Nigerian shot-stopper Chiamaka Nnadozie, a standout for the Super Falcons and Paris FC, secured an impressive fourth-place finish. She now plays for an English women’s club, Brighton.

PSG and Arsenal Women Take Home Club Honours

On the women’s side, Arsenal scooped the Women’s Club of the Year award after a stellar season in the Women’s Super League and Champions League.

Xana Foundation Wins Socrates Award

The Socrates Trophy for social engagement was awarded to the Xana Foundation, an organisation launched by PSG coach Luis Enrique in memory of his daughter Xana, who passed away in 2019 from a rare bone cancer.

The foundation provides crucial support to children and young people living with life-threatening illnesses.

As expected, Ousmane Dembele was crowned the Men’s best player of the year at the 2025 Ballon d’Or after helping PSG to win their first UEFA Champions League title last season.
