Babangida Admits MKO Won, Regrets Annulling June 12 + Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan Defends Sitting – What’s Trending With Ojy Okpe

A heated argument erupted between the president of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, and the lawmaker representing Kogi Central, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, over a change in seating arrangements, on the floor of the senate on Thursday.

The disagreement began when Akpoti-Uduaghan’s seat was reassigned at the start of plenary but she refused to comply with the relocation.

The chief whip of the senate, Tahir Monguno, citing constitutional provisions, warned that failure to adhere to the new seating arrangement could have consequences.

Akpabio backed Monguno, and when Akpoti-Uduaghan attempted to speak from her original seat, she was denied recognition.

An old video surfaced online, showing the then Senator, Godswill Akpabio flouting the Senate standing order under the Saraki-led Senate.

In the video, Akpabio insisted on speaking even while he was not permitted to speak by the then Senate President, Bukola Saraki.

Reactions have trailed the revelation by former military president, Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida, after he acknowledged that the late MKO Abiola won the presidential election held on June 12th, 1993.

IBB’s revelation came at the launch of his autobiography, ‘A Journey In Service’ in Abuja on Thursday.

Babangida annulled the June 12th election, sparking widespread protests and unrest in the country, but three decades after the annulment, during the review of his autobiography, former Vice President Yemi Osinbajo read a section that shed light on the events surrounding the annulment.

Former military Head of State, Ibrahim Babangida, on Thursday, expressed regret over the annulment of the June 12, 1993 presidential election, describing it the most difficult period of his life.

During the review of the book, former vice president Osinbajo jokingly remarked that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu was now celebrating with his former tormentors.

He recalled how Tinubu, who was a Senator at the time, resisted the dissolution of the senate under Sani Abacha, following the annulment of the June 12, 1993, presidential election.
