Aviation Minister Keyamo Launches Gusau International Airport Construction In Zamfara State

The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, on Wednesday, officially commenced the construction of Gusau International Airport in a significant ceremony held at the airport site on Kaura Namoda Road, Gusau.

This event represents a major milestone in the first year of Governor Dauda Lawal’s administration in Zamfara State.

The flag-off ceremony was attended by numerous dignitaries, government officials, and community leaders. The project aims to enhance Zamfara’s infrastructure, stimulate economic growth, and improve regional and international connectivity.

Keyamo underscored the project’s importance, stating, “The construction of Gusau International Airport is a testament to our commitment to developing the aviation sector and promoting regional growth. This airport will not only improve transportation links but also create job opportunities and stimulate economic activities in Zamfara State and its environs.”

Governor Dauda Lawal expressed his gratitude to the Federal Government for its support, highlighting the project’s transformative potential for Zamfara State as he said, “This airport is a vital component of our development agenda. It will facilitate trade, attract investment, and contribute significantly to the socio-economic advancement of our state. We are determined to see this project through to completion, and we appreciate the Honourable Minister’s dedication to this cause.”

The event concluded with a ceremonial groundbreaking, symbolising the official commencement of construction work on the Gusau International Airport.

The Gusau International Airport is projected to be completed within the next few years, with facilities which are set to be capable of handling both passenger and cargo flights.
