The Arewa Think Tank (ATT) Thursday expressed support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s recent security reforms and defended the National Security Adviser (NSA), Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, describing him as a dedicated public servant delivering on his mandate.
Convener of the group, Muhammad Alhaji Yakubu, in a statement Thursday said the NSA has been working tirelessly to address insecurity across the country, adding that his efforts are beginning to yield positive results.
“The NSA, under Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, has been working day and night to tackle the country’s security challenges. We believe his efforts are yielding results, and he deserves our collective support,” Yakubu said.
He was reacting to calls by a coalition of youth leaders from the North-east demanding a probe into the office of the NSA and giving President Tinubu a seven-day ultimatum to act or face protests.
Yakubu, however, said the ATT views such calls as unnecessary distractions that could derail ongoing reforms in the nation’s security architecture.
“We urge the government to ignore those calling for a probe of the NSA. Instead, Nigerians should rally behind him and the administration to sustain the progress already recorded,” he said.
