Acting National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Nafiu Bala, has dismissed claims that he held discussions with former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.
He maintained that the reports linking Atiku to the party’s affairs were baseless and without foundation.
Bala emphasised that Atiku is not a member of the ADC and described the insinuations as baseless.

Speaking to journalists in Bauchi on Monday, Bala said, “It is not true and I don’t know where it is coming from.
“Atiku Abubakar is not a member of the ADC, why should I have discussions with him about ADC? As the Ag National Chairman of the ADC, I will not go and discuss with anyone about the ADC.

“Atiku Abubakar is a stakeholder and member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). I am not aware that he is in the ADC.”
Bala, who assumed leadership of the party following the resignation of Chief Ralph Okey Nwosu, assured members that he would resist attempts by infiltrators to hijack the ADC ahead of the 2027 elections.
He alleged that elements from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), All Progressives Congress (APC), Labour Party (LP), and All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) have attempted to destabilize the party by posing as leaders despite not being members.
He further stressed that the ADC is a united party, with officials at all levels conducting elections and working in line with the party constitution.
“As it is now, I am the authentic Ag National Chairman of the ADC, and I have since resumed the office.
“ I am in control of the party structure at all levels in accordance with the constitution of the party,” Bala added.
On his alleged expulsion from the ADC in Gombe State, Bala dismissed it as false, saying that stakeholders in his ward reaffirmed him as a bona fide member.
He also revealed that leadership changes have been communicated to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), urging members to remain vigilant and committed to the survival of the party.
