The Asisat Oshoala Foundation has empowered 150 students of Muritala Ajadi Animashaun Community Grammar School, Surulere, Lagos, through its S.H.E Plays, a programme designed to give children, particularly the marginalised girl-child, opportunities that Super Falcons star Oshoala never had growing up.
Speaking during the outreach, Director of the Asisat Oshoala Academy, Lanre Vigo, said the initiative reflects Oshoala’s vision of using football and life skills to transform young lives. “This is about giving back, about ensuring kids and the girl-child, in particular, get opportunities that cannot be taken for granted,” Vigo noted.

The one-day event featured impactful sessions, including personal hygiene education led by Omowuraola Olaoye of the Youth Empowerment Foundation Life Skills programme, and menstrual hygiene discussions facilitated by academy nurse Nwankwo Chidinma. Both sessions aimed to boost confidence, health, and professional readiness among the students.
Principals of the junior and senior sections of the school, represented by Adebukola Obaleye and Adesola Salako, respectively, praised Asisat Oshoala Foundation for preparing students to become “future world changers” through such initiatives.
Beyond football, students also participated in Taekwondo, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) training, and other life-skill lessons. Several beneficiaries, including Oluwafemi Mary and Nwachukwu Stella, expressed gratitude to the six-time African Women’s Footballer of the Year, with many saying the programme motivated them to develop an interest in football.
This edition follows a successful outreach held earlier in July at Ansar U-Deen Senior High School, Surulere, reinforcing Oshoala’s commitment to youth empowerment and sports development in Nigeria.
