A former deputy governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria and inaugural president and vice-chancellor of the African School of Governance (ASG), Prof Kingsley Moghalu, has said the ivory tower has concluded plans to welcome its 100 cohort students in September 2025 in Kigali, Rwanda.
The African School of Governance (ASG) is a pan-African graduate Institution poised to bring about a trans-generational change in mindset and impart knowledge to tackle the problems of leadership and corruption in Africa.
This was disclosed at an event held in Lagos to sensitise the public and educate applicants on how to enrol in the first-of-its-kind university located in Kigali, the capital of Rwanda.
Contrary to earlier reports that the African School of Governance will launch in Nigeria, the institution will launch in Kigali, the Capital of Rwanda, with 100 students.
In his speech, Prof Kingsley Moghalu, a former deputy governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, stated that the ASG is a groundbreaking graduate institution to transform leadership and governance across Africa.
He noted that the institution, co-founded by the president of the Republic of Rwanda, Paul Kagame, and the former president of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, Hailemariam Desalegn, seeks to nurture current and future leaders capable of driving sustainable development, economic growth, and social transformation across Africa while elevating Africa’s voice in global governance discussions.
Moghalu said, “Solutions to Africa’s problems lie in the need to change the mindsets of leaders and the governed, impart the proper knowledge, and train Africans with the right skills to transform Africa.
“Africa School of Governance, with my humble self as its inaugural president and vice-chancellor, will seek to train the next generation of leaders in Masters of Public Administration (MPA) and also welcome present leaders across the public sector and private sector to undergo Executive Master of Public Administration (EMPA) and also General Executive Courses and other short courses.”
