ASCSN Leadership Tussle: Joshua Apebo, A Dissident, Says Association’s General Secretary

ABUJA – The Secretary General of the Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria (ASCSN), Comrade
Gamaliel Acho, has debunked what he described as “grossly misleading information” by one Joshua Apebo, a suspended staff of the Association, where he falsely claimed that Comrade Innocent Bola-Audu, has ceased to be the National President after 29th July, 2024, and that the Association elected one Shehu Mohammed as its National President.

In a statement on Sunday disclaiming Apebo’s “false assertions”, Comrade Acho, urged Nigerians to discountenance same, as they are totally untrue and calculated to mislead and cause confusion after series of court victories that have affirmed Comrade Bola-Audu as the one and only National President of the Association.

Putting the records straight, Comrade Acho said the Association was thrown into leadership crisis in 2021, when some retirees and dissident members and staff of the Assocation staged a failed coup to illegally remove Comrade Bola-Audu from office and replace him with a stooge in order to gain unrestrained access to funds of the Association.

Acho explained that the National Industrial Court of Nigeria (NICN) on 9th July, 2024, had resolved the leadership dispute when it delivered judgment in suit no. NICN/ABJ/214/2022, categoncally affirming and reinstating Comrade Innocent Bola-Audu as the National President of the Association.

The Secretary General added that the Association subsequentty held its 5th Quadrennial National Delegates Conference (NDC) at Abuja on 10th August, 2024, and re-elected Comrade Bola-Audu as National President for a second four-year term just as some other worthy members were elected into various other positions in the Central Working Committee (CWC) of the Association.

The Secretary General took time to reel out all the court cases and decisions in respect of the leadership crisis rocking the Association, which all favoured Comrade Innocent Bola-Audu.

According to the statement, the very clear implication and import of the withdrawal and striking out of all the court cases is that Comrade Innocent Bola-Audu remains the undis – uted and authentic National President of the Association of Senior Civil Servants of Ni-eria ASCSN.

In view of the fore going, the General Secretary of ASCSN, implored all relevant Federal and State Ministries, departments and agencies as well as the Association’s bankers to take due cognisance of this notice.

“The National President calls on all members and staff of the Association to gear up for the noble task of rebuilding and repositioning the Association for greater heights” Comrade Acho Stated. END.
