Arsenal defender Gabriel is bracing for additional medical tests after suffering a right-thigh muscle injury while on international duty with Brazil, an issue that could sideline him for up to two months.
The 27-year-old sustained the injury during Brazil’s 2-0 friendly win over Senegal at the Emirates Stadium last weekend.
He was withdrawn in the 65th minute after receiving prolonged treatment and was visibly uncomfortable as he walked off clutching his thigh.
Brazil confirm withdrawal from squad
The Brazilian FA later confirmed the muscle problem and announced that Gabriel had pulled out of the squad ahead of Tuesday’s friendly against Tunisia in Lille.
According to The Athletic, sources familiar with the situation indicate that further scans are required to determine the full damage, but early assessments point to a likely layoff of one to two months.

Major blow ahead of intense fixture run
The timing is problematic for Arsenal. The club is entering a congested eight-week stretch that includes at least 14 matches across all competitions.
Gabriel has been a key fixture, playing every Premier League minute this season and starting all four Champions League games.
Since joining from Lille in 2020, he has made 227 appearances and recently extended his contract to 2029.
His absence adds to Arsenal’s growing injury list, which already includes Viktor Gyokeres, Martin Odegaard, Noni Madueke and Gabriel Martinelli.
Arteta’s side next face Tottenham on Sunday, followed by a Champions League showdown with Bayern Munich at the Emirates.
A London derby against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge closes out a demanding week on November 30.
