Arsenal, Everton send their thoughts to Campbell as former striker battles illness

Arsenal and Everton have extended their support to former striker Kevin Campbell, who is reportedly seriously ill in hospital.

Both Premier League clubs issued statements expressing their concern and sending best wishes to the 54-year-old and his family.

According to talkSPORT, Campbell, who was admitted to the hospital last week, has received an outpouring of support, though specific details regarding his illness have not been disclosed.

On X, Everton shared: “We have been made aware our former striker Kevin Campbell is currently very unwell.

“Not just a great footballer but an incredible person, Kevin is, and always has been, a fighter and we wish him and his family well at this challenging time. Sending all our love.”

Arsenal followed suit: “Everyone at the club is sending love to Kevin Campbell and his family, following news that our former striker is very unwell. We’re thinking of you, Kevin Campbell.”

Campbell enjoyed a successful career, beginning at Arsenal where he won five trophies, including the league title in 1990/91 and the FA Cup and League Cup double in 1993.

He also lifted the European Cup Winners’ Cup in 1994.

After leaving Arsenal, Campbell played for Nottingham Forest and then joined Everton in 1999, initially on loan from Trabzonspor.

His move to Goodison Park became permanent, where he scored 50 goals in 160 appearances, becoming a fan favorite.

He also had stints at West Bromwich Albion and Cardiff City before retiring in 2006 and transitioning into a media career.
