Army General Visits Troops In Kano, Commends  Their Bravery, Courage

Major General Abubakar Wase, the Commanding General Officer (GOC) Nigerian  Army, has praised the effort of the ‘Operation FANSAN YAMMA’ unit for their bravery and courage in the face of insecurity in the Shanono Local Government Area of Kano State.

The information was made known to the general public through the verified X handle of the Nigerian Army (formerly Twitter), General Wase, during a visit to the troops on Tuesday, in a bid to assess operational assessment at Farin Ruwa and Tsaure ‘Operating Base’ in Shanono LGA commended them for their professionalism.

The GOC charged the troops to remain professional and resolute in their efforts to rid the area of banditry and other forms of criminality.

The operational visit was a follow-up to the recent bandit incursion in Shanono on 2 November 2025, which led to the death of two security personnel and a member of the Civilian Joint Task Force. The visit was aimed at assessing the security situation and boosting troops’ morale.

General Wase interacted with the troops, listened to their challenges, and offered operational guidance. He assured them of the continued support of the Chief of Army Staff to ensure that the ongoing operations achieve success and lasting peace in the state

According to the Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, 3 Brigade Nigerian Army, Capt. Babatunde Zubairu,” The GOC later visited a border area between Kano and Katsina States, identified as a major bandits crossing point.

“He urged the gallant troops to remain vigilant, sustain their operational tempo, and maintain close collaboration with other security agencies and local stakeholders.

“The troops on the ground comprise troops from 3 Brigade, the Nigerian Air Force, the Nigerian Police, and the Civilian Joint Task Force. Additionally, the GOC later visited the Executive Governor of Kano State, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, at the Government House, Kano.

Highlights of the visit were an interaction on security issues and a presentation of souvenirs, among others.
