Natives and residents of Aramoko-Ekiti, Ekiti State, are currently mourning as the news of the death a son of the town, Alexander Temitope Ogunleye, filtered in on Saturday.
According to a condolence statement signed by the Royal Eminence of Atayero Royal Family, Dr. Olusegun Aderemi, the deceased, until his death, was a teacher based in Abuja.
Ogunleye was described as a dedicated a teacher and a mentor to younger generation in the kingdom, “inspiring our young people to embrace education and pursue knowledge.”
Dr. Aderemi has promised to initiate an Education Trust Fund to secure the education of the children of the deceased.
The statement reads in parts: “This morning, I received with deep sadness the report, conveyed by Raheem Akingbolu, of the passing of one of our promising young men, Mr. Alexander Temitope Ogunleye, a dedicated school teacher in Abuja.
“Though I never had the privilege of meeting him in person, I have often heard of his commitment to excellence as a teacher and his passion for uplifting others.
“Despite living and working far away in Abuja, he made it a point to return home frequently, inspiring our young people to embrace education and pursue knowledge. It is heartbreaking that his life has been cut short at such a time when his family, his community, and indeed our country, needed him the most.
“He leaves behind a grieving wife and children, and even more profoundly, a legacy of service, mentorship, and selfless devotion to the cause of education.
“The lives of countless young men and women bear testimony to his impact. In honour of his memory and to ease the immediate burden on his loved ones, I will be making a personal contribution towards his burial expenses and to provide support for his family.
“Beyond this, I will engage my friends and colleagues in setting up an education trust fund to secure the future of the children he has left behind, ensuring that the noble work he began as an educator continues through them.
“May Temitope’s gentle soul rest in perfect peace. May the Almighty God comfort his wife, children, and the entire Ogunleye family in this difficult moment.”
