APC Slams Atiku for Politicizing Adamawa Terror Attack

The Adamawa State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has sharply criticized former Vice President Atiku Abubakar for his remarks on the recent terrorist attack in Wagga Mongoro, Madagali Local Government Area, labeling them as “insensitive” and “politically driven.”

In a press release issued on Sunday, September 28, 2025, signed by APC State Publicity Secretary Mohammed Abdullahi, the party accused Atiku of exploiting a national tragedy for political gain.

“Atiku has once again shown that tragedy is not a time for reflection but an opportunity for cheap political theater,” the statement read, describing his comments as a “hollow” and error-filled misrepresentation of the attack’s details, including its location and casualty figures.

The APC further alleged that Atiku, as a key figure in the former People’s Democratic Party (PDP) administration, bears partial responsibility for Nigeria’s ongoing security challenges.

“His leadership failures helped fuel the insecurity he now shamelessly uses to advance his political ambitions,” the statement claimed.

The party also criticized Atiku for his alleged neglect of Adamawa State during his tenure, pointing out his failure to bring development projects to the state or his hometown of Jada.

They noted that while Atiku remained silent during past Boko Haram attacks on Adamawa communities, he has now “found his voice” to exploit the current crisis rather than foster unity.Defending the current administration, the APC highlighted ongoing efforts by the government and security forces to restore peace in the region.

They condemned Atiku’s remarks as a “reckless politicization of grief” and a sign of his disconnect from the people he claims to represent.

The party expressed solidarity with the victims of the Wagga Mongoro attack, offering condolences to affected families and reaffirming its commitment to ending insurgency in the region.

“The people of Adamawa see through Atiku’s empty posturing and recognize genuine efforts to support them,” the statement concluded.
