APC dismisses PDP’s claims on Oredo LG council leadership

From Tony Osauzo

The Edo State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Emperor Jarrett Tenebe, has dismissed claims by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) that the State Government’s action in appointing Dr. Osani Igbinigie as Acting Chairman of Oredo Local Government Council amounted to a constitutional crisis, describing the claim as “a gross exaggeration.”

In a statement in Benin, Tenebe explained that the Government’s decision was a necessary step to ensure the smooth operation of the council.

“Furthermore, the article’s claim that Dr. Tom Obaseki is the rightful chairman of the council is misleading. The facts on the ground suggest that Obaseki’s tenure has been marred by controversy and illegality. His refusal to vacate office despite the directive of the Suspension of office is a clear indication of his disregard for the rule of law.

“It is also worth noting that the PDP’s antics in Edo State are a classic example of political grave-digging. Their penchant for spreading falsehoods and misinformation is well-documented, and their latest attempt to discredit the Edo State government is no exception.

“As I have always maintained, the PDP’s actions are a threat to democracy and the rule of law in Edo State. Their refusal to accept the outcome of the recent elections and their resort to violence and intimidation are clear indications of their desperation.

“In conclusion, I urge the good people of Edo State to see through the PDP’s antics and reject their attempt to destabilise our beloved state.

“We will continue to work tirelessly to ensure that our state remains a beacon of peace, progress, and prosperity.

“As for Dr. Tom Obaseki and his likes, I have this to say: their actions are a manifestation of the political grave-digging that has become synonymous with the PDP,” the statement said.
