Former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has said the party is open to welcoming Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso back.
However, he stressed that this would only be possible on the condition that Kwankwaso abides by the APC’s constitution and internal rules.
Speaking to BBC Hausa on Friday, Ganduje emphasised that the APC would not give preferential treatment to any politician seeking re-entry, no matter their influence.

He noted that those who left the party must also bear the political consequences of their previous decisions.
Reports had circulated recently that Kwankwaso reached out to APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, regarding a possible defection.
However, the former Kano governor dismissed the claims, describing them as “baseless.”
Reacting to the speculation, Ganduje said, “Any attempt by Kwankwaso to rejoin the APC would be like licking his vomit.
“He must first accept his past mistakes before seeking a fresh start with the party.”
On the situation of the APC in Kano, Ganduje confirmed that internal disputes had been resolved.
He added that during a stakeholders’ meeting in Abuja, members reviewed the party’s performance in the 2023 general elections and commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s leadership.
Ganduje also dismissed rumours of a rift between him and Tinubu, insisting that their relationship remains cordial.
According to him, the Kano APC is united, fully committed to the president, and determined to reclaim control of the state ahead of the 2027 elections.
“The APC in Kano is stronger than ever. We are solidly behind President Tinubu and working tirelessly to ensure victory in the next election,” he assured.
