Anthony Joshua Eyes Tyson Fury Showdown In 2026 As Talks Advance In Saudi Arabia

Anthony Joshua could finally face Tyson Fury in a long-anticipated all-British heavyweight clash, with talks already underway to stage the blockbuster bout next summer.

Anthony Joshua’s promoter, Eddie Hearn, confirmed that discussions have taken place with Turki Alalshikh, chairman of Saudi Arabia’s General Entertainment Authority and the driving force behind Riyadh Season.

Hearn revealed that Alalshikh is keen to make Joshua versus Fury a reality, calling it “the biggest fight in boxing right now.”

“He wants to make AJ against Fury, that’s no secret,” Hearn told The Ring. “He wants to make the biggest fights in the sport, and that is the biggest fight in boxing right now. We’ve got to agree on our end and then it’s up to Turki whether he can get Fury in the ring.”

The Matchroom boss explained that Alalshikh’s involvement simplifies negotiations. “The best thing about these situations now is that it’s not me speaking to Frank Warren or Spencer Brown or Tyson Fury trying to do a deal. We just have to do our deal, and if Turki can make the fight, then it’s on. If he can’t, it’s not on,” Hearn said.

Hearn also laid out Joshua’s roadmap, which includes a tune-up fight before the mega showdown. “We have a plan for AJ to get him back in the ring as soon as possible and then lead up to a huge fight against Tyson Fury in 2026. Fingers crossed we can make it happen.”

Joshua, who slipped out of The Ring’s heavyweight rankings after a year of inactivity following his defeat to Daniel Dubois last September, is already back in camp preparing for his comeback.

Fury, now 37, has retired and unretired several times, but Hearn believes the Gypsy King could be tempted back with the right offer.
