Anambra Police Arrest Three Armed Robbery Suspects, Recover Stolen Tricycle


The Anambra State Police Command has apprehended three individuals in Awarasi Village, Uga, Aguata Local Government Area, in connection with armed robbery, and successfully recovered a stolen tricycle.

In a statement released on Tuesday, the state police spokesperson, Tochukwu Ikenga, revealed that the arrests were made on Monday.

According to Ikenga, the operation followed a distress call reporting that a commercial tricycle operator had been attacked by armed assailants at Isuaniocha Bridge, Awka North LGA, who forcibly took his yellow tricycle with registration number NZM 92 YH.

He stated, “On September 21, 2025, at about 2.20 pm, the Command received a distress call on how a commercial tricycle operator was attacked at Isuaniocha Bridge by armed men who dispossessed him of his yellow tricycle with registration number NZM 92 YH.

“Police operatives attached to the Special Anti-Cultism Squad swiftly mobilised to the scene, and the victim was rescued and rushed to the hospital, where he is responding to treatment.

“In the same vein, and acting on technology-guided intelligence, the operatives traced the suspects to Awarasi Village, Uga, Aguata LGA, and recovered the stolen tricycle.”

Ikenga added that the suspects attempted to flee when they saw the officers, but were pursued and eventually captured.

“The suspects include: Kosisochukwu Nweke, ‘M’ aged 26 years, Emmanuel Eze ‘M’, aged 24 years and Osondu Ifeanyi ‘M’, aged 20 years respectively.

“Meanwhile, efforts are ongoing to uncover more leads related to their criminal activities, while the suspects shall be charged in court upon the conclusion of the investigations,” he concluded.
