The State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, disclosed this in a statement issued in Awka on Thursday, noting that stolen vehicles and other items were recovered during separate police operations in the aforementioned areas.

“The joint security team acted on intelligence regarding a Mack Truck with Registration No. T 5003 LA, along with an empty container suspected to have been stolen, which was parked near St. Paul’s Catholic Church, Achalla.”
According to Ikenga, the suspects confessed to the crime during interrogation, revealing that the truck had been stolen from a company in Lagos. Efforts have been made to contact the vehicle owner to provide the necessary documents for its recovery.
In a related operation, on the evening of the same day, Okpoko Division received credible information about an abandoned vehicle along the Onitsha–Owerri Road, opposite Tiger Fruit Company. Acting promptly, the Divisional Patrol Team, led by the DPO, discovered a white Toyota Camry Spider with Registration Number Anambra: AWK 91 SR.
During a thorough search, an additional plate number, Delta: 06A 90 DT, was recovered from the vehicle. The car has since been secured at the police station for identification and return to its rightful owner.
Additionally, on the evening of 23rd September 2025, youths of Akwa Village, Ihiala, assisted the police in arresting a male suspect, Charles Chiemerie Onuigbo, in connection with the abduction of three children aged six, three, and two years.
Preliminary investigations revealed that Charles and two other unidentified individuals conspired to abduct the children. The mother of the victims reported that while her children were eating outside, she went into the kitchen to fetch more food and returned to find them missing. Further inquiries revealed that the arrested suspect, a neighbor, had been harboring the two fleeing suspects.
Following his arrest, Charles was assaulted by angry community members, sustaining injuries before being rescued by the police. The case remains under investigation, with ongoing efforts to apprehend the remaining suspects and locate the missing children.
SP Ikenga added that other areas of the State Command remain calm, as counter-terrorism and crime prevention operations continue across Anambra State.
