He stated, “The Anambra State Police Command operatives attached to Rapid Response Squad, Awkuzu, at midday on September 20, 2025, and acting on credible intelligence, arrested one Kingsley Eze, male, aged 34 years, in Abagana.

“The suspect has been on the Police wanted list for alleged involvement in armed robbery. During the arrest, one Magnum Pump Action gun, along with 12 live cartridges, were recovered from him.”

According to Ikenga, the suspect is currently in police custody, where he is undergoing interrogation, and will be charged to court once investigations are concluded.

The development comes barely weeks after the command announced the arrest of a deserter soldier and four others linked to armed robbery and kidnapping in the state.

According to PUNCH the suspects were nabbed in August after being identified as members of a syndicate responsible for kidnapping and terrorising residents across Anambra.

Ikenga, while confirming the arrest at the time, revealed that the gang was apprehended after abducting a farmer in Isiagu, Awka. The victim was later released after ransom was paid.

He said operatives of the Rapid Response Squad, Awkuzu, stormed the hideout of the suspects at Notoko, Awka, where they were arrested.

“The Anambra State Police Command, in a swift operation on August 27, 2025, arrested five suspected members of a notorious armed robbery and kidnapping syndicate following a report that a victim was abducted on his farmland at Isiagu, Awka, and later released after ransom was paid,” Ikenga stated.
