The Abuja Chapter of the Anambra State Towns People Association (ASTPA) has announced plans to hold its biennial cultural celebration on Saturday, October 11, 2025, at the Velodrome, Moshood Abiola Stadium, Abuja.
This year’s theme, “Onulu Ube Nwanne Agbanaoso”, translated as “Do not hesitate to rescue your sibling or relative in times of need”, underscores the spirit of solidarity, compassion, and mutual assistance among Ndi Anambra.
Speaking to journalists in Abuja on Sunday, Chief Arinze Anadu (Nwachinemelu), the President of ASTPA, explained that the association serves as the umbrella body for all Anambra community unions in Abuja.
Its primary objectives, he said, include fostering unity and progress among Anambra indigenes, promoting peaceful coexistence with other groups, preserving cultural heritage, and identifying challenges confronting Anambra State while proposing solutions.
Chief Anadu highlighted that the biennial festival is not only a platform for cultural expression but also an opportunity to rekindle community spirit and promote development. According to him, the event will feature music, dance, masquerades, traditional fashion displays, and various competitions among town unions, all aimed at showcasing the vibrant culture of Anambra State.
He added that, beyond the festivities, ASTPA uses the occasion to promote community empowerment through skills acquisition, entrepreneurship, and economic initiatives in line with the event’s theme of collective support.
The festival also serves as a platform for networking among members, stakeholders, and government officials, fostering collaboration for the state’s growth and development.
“As usual, this year’s celebration will feature cultural performances, motivational speeches, raffle draws, and empowerment packages, including cash gifts and household items.
Outstanding individuals and groups who have contributed to community development will also be recognised,” Chief Anadu stated.
In his remarks, Dr Sunday Uchendu, Chairman of the Local Organising Committee (LOC), expressed appreciation to members for their dedication and cooperation.
He prayed for the event’s success and urged continued support from members, assuring them that their contributions would yield both divine and communal rewards.
The ASTPA biennial celebration, he emphasised, remains a symbol of unity, cultural pride, and progress, reaffirming the collective resolve of Ndi Anambra in Abuja to uplift one another and contribute meaningfully to the state’s development.
