Anambra Emerges Winner At Miss Universe Nigeria 2025


The grand finale of the Miss Universe Nigeria 2025 pageant in Lagos on Saturday saw Onyinyechi Basil, representing Anambra State, emerge victorious.

Basil clinched the crown after facing off against Miss Lagos, Damilola Bolarinde, in the final moments of the show, with the organizers officially declaring her the winner. She stood out in a highly competitive field, edging past several strong contenders.

Miss Bayelsa, Fortune Kurobo, secured the second runner-up spot, while Miss Ogun, Irene Ikediashi, placed third. Completing the top five was Miss Akwa Ibom, Idah Eno, who also received the honorary title of Miss Supranational Nigeria 2025.

Out of the 22 contestants who began the journey, 10 advanced to the final stages. Among them were Miss Delta, De-Blessing Asaboro; Miss Ekiti, Ezekiel Silver; Miss Imo, Chukwukereobi Chinaza; Miss Ebonyi, Ugoaru Onuoha; and Miss Oyo, Lagoke Funmike, though they did not make it to the top spots.

The finale delivered a mix of glamour, culture, and entertainment. The traditional wear category celebrated Nigerian heritage as contestants fused local fabrics with modern styles, earning applause from the audience. The swimwear showcase emphasized confidence and inclusivity, while lively dance performances kept the crowd energized throughout the evening.

Public participation also played a huge role this year. According to statistics from the franchise, Miss Delta, De-Blessing Asaboro, topped the online votes with 38,319, followed by Miss Lagos, Damilola Bolarinde, who garnered 34,033, and Miss Ekiti, Ezekiel Silver, with 28,074 votes.

The star-studded finale, hosted by Anthony Abraham and Victory Wilson, attracted a huge audience both at the venue and online, generating widespread excitement on social media.

Onyinyechi Basil succeeds Chidinma Adetshina, Miss Universe Nigeria 2024, and will now carry the nation’s flag to the global Miss Universe stage later this year, where she will compete against queens from around the world.
