A senatorial aspirant in the planned senatorial bye-election in Anambra state, Barrister Nnamdi Ezike, has commended Governor Chukwuma Soludo for going the extra mile in tackling the enormous security challenges in the state.
Ezike, aspiring to the Anambra South senatorial seat on the platform of the Young Progressives Party (YPP) commended the initial successes of the state security outfit (Agu-neche-Mba), however, advised that it should not be used to harass and intimidate political opponents as Anambra prepares for senatorial and governorship elections this year.
He stated that it would be very disturbing for the Anambra government to allow Agu-neche-Mba to deviate from its primary goal of protecting the people by converting or using the group for political goals.
Speaking in an exclusive interview in Abuja, Barrister Ezike stated that tackling the growing insecurity in the state, especially in Anambra South, would be his major focus as Senator, adding that the security outfit should not be drafted or deployed for political duties.
Hon. Ezike commended the governor for taking the bold step of setting up the security group, adding that the initiative and the recent successes of the agency would drastically check insecurity if the operatives remained focused and sustained the tempo of their operations.
