Allocation Committee: Civil Servants Fear Salary Delay

4 hours ago 15

Governors’ boycott of the Federation Accounts Allocation Committee (FAAC) meeting last Wednesday has been eliciting discussion among civil servants in Kogi State.

Some civil servants who spoke with our Correspondent said the adjournment of the meeting indefinitely may have dashed their hopes of receiving the monthly salaries, which always come between the 24th and 25th of every month, since Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo assumed office as Governor of the state on 27 January 2024.

Alhaji Muhammed Nasiru, a civil servant in one of the ministries, said, “Our salary for February may be delayed because of this problem.

He advised the parties to urgently resolve the issue in the interest of the working class, saying some states may not be able to pay without money from Federal allocation.

Another civil servant told our Correspondent in confidence that Governor Ododo may pay without the federal allocation, saying, “The governor spent the December 2024 salary without waiting for the federal allocation.

“The governor may surprise us again. He may not wait for the federal allocation before paying the February salary to civil servants in the state workforce.
