Allegations of stealing BVAS, election materials against me false, misleading – APC vice chair

The APC national vice chairman North-east zone, Comrade Mustapha Salihu, has dismissed in strongest term  allegations levelled against him by the Peoples Democratic Party ( PDP) in Saturday bye election for Ganye State Constituency.

They PDP had accused him of stealing BVAS machine and other election materials.

He described the allegation as false and misleading aimed at tarnishing his image and bring him to disreputes  in the eyes of the public.

Explaining what transpired during the election at a press conference in Yola Sunday, barely 24 hours after the Independent National Electoral commission ( INEC) announced APC candidate in the bye election, Hon. Misu Musa Jauro as the winner of the election, he said he only protected the materials from being carted away by the Peoples Democratic party ( PDP) and their thugs who wanted to disrupt the counting process.

He specifically accused the speaker of the Adamawa State House of Assembly, Rt Hon. Bathiya Wesley and Adamawa PDP chairman, Barrister .A.T shehu of organising thugs to disrupt the counting process.

“What happened was that the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, and State PDP chairman mobilised thugs to snatched the election materials because it was obvious they were loosing, i iImmidiately  asked  security agencies to dispersed the crowd and ensure that only party agents remained to monitored the counting and sorting of ballot papers”

According to him, the thugs became violent so he quickly intervened by instructing a police officer to secured the materials after which they called the AIG to send reinforcements.

Mustapha added that the incidence took place at the ward of the PDP state chairman who had earlier vowed to the Governor that he will resign his position as party chairman and retired from politics if PDP failed to win the bye election hence their decision to deploy commissioners, local governments chairmen and the Speaker to hijacked the process. but he stood on his ground until police took charge as seen in the viral video.

He urged the public and all lovers of democracy to ignored PDP  tales and misinformation allegedly accusing him and his party of stealing of election materials.
