Alhaji Aliyu Garba Salisu Emerges Hausa Traders Association Chairman

Alhaji Aliyu Garba has emerged as the elected chairman of the Kogi State Hausa Traders Association. Garba defeated his rival, Alhaji Sani Hassan, polling 82 votes against 44.

Declaring the results, the Secretary of Lokoja local government, Honourable Abubakar Danjuma, noted that the offices were contested by Alhaji Abubakar Ibrahim, who emerged as secretary unopposed.

Others were Alhaji Ahmed Salisu, R.O 2, with 59 votes to defeat Alhaji Zakariya Sule with 49 votes.
The office of Treasurer was keenly contested by Alhaji Lawal Mouktar, who scored 58 votes, against Alhaji Dauda Alfa, with 57 votes.

The chairman, Aliyu Garba, said the election reinforced the vision, growth and development the association stands for.

He said, “My administration shall continue to advance the welfare of the members. We shall always place the people first in every decision we take, and it is my solemn promise that this mandate will continue to prioritise the welfare of our members and ensure the association’s unwavering dedication to progress.

“Our foresight and commitment to securing a better future for our members and our collective efforts to push for improvements within the association will require continuous support from each of you,” Garba promised.

He commended His Royal Highness, Maigari of Lokoja, Alhaji Ibrahim Gambo Kabir Maikarfi 1V, for his fatherly role and promised to justify the confidence he had placed in him.

In his remarks, Alhaji Sani Hassan, who came a distant second, called on both the winners and losers of the election to work together for the betterment of the association. “This is one family. We are all brothers here.”

He appreciated the electoral committee, INEC, and security for ensuring the conduct of a free, fair, and credible election.
