U.S. Open champion Carlos Alcaraz has confirmed that he won’t be featuring for Spain at the Davis Cup due to fatigue.
Alcaraz, who defeated Jannik Sinner with a 6-2, 3-6, 6-1, 6-4 win to claim the U.S. Open title on Sunday, was due to play in another event later this week, having been named in the Spain squad for their Davis Cup qualifier against Denmark. However, that is no longer the case with Alcaraz pulling himself out.
He will not take part in the match due to fatigue and his desire to take some time away from the court, according to Spanish outlet Cadena SER.

It is said that Jaume Munar has been called up to replace Alcaraz in the squad.
In a perfect echo of the triumph that first propelled him to the number one spot in 2022, Alcaraz’s second New York title lifted him back to the top of the world rankings as the 22-year-old Spaniard displaced Sinner and took his Grand Slam trophy haul to six.
