Akwa Ibom Exco Approves N695bn Supplementary Budget, Boosting 2025 Budget to N1.65tn

The Akwa Ibom State Executive Council has greenlit a N695 billion supplementary budget, elevating the state’s 2025 budget to N1.65 trillion.

Governor Umo Eno, who chaired the council meeting, announced the decision via his official X handle, emphasizing the budget’s alignment with the ARISE Agenda to drive growth and address pressing needs.

Eno expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for federal support, enabling impactful projects for Akwa Ibom’s citizens.

The supplementary budget will fund the new minimum wage, personnel emoluments, and allowances for NYSC members, both within and outside the state.

It also allocates resources for flood and erosion control, completion of inflation-impacted projects, and new road construction during the dry season.

Additional funding will support Ibom CNG Mass Transit buses, newly established ministries (Sports, Digital Economy, Humanitarian Services, and Rural Development and Cooperatives), agricultural initiatives like the Tree Crop Revolution Programme, new housing estates, House of Assembly renovations, and Ibom Air’s expansion with new aircraft.

The ARISE Shopping City, aimed at boosting tourism and commerce, is also included.“This budget reflects our commitment to people-first governance, stimulating the economy, improving infrastructure, creating jobs, and enhancing lives across all 31 LGAs,” Eno said.
