The Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly has received a list of new Commissioners and Special Advisers nominees from the state governor, Pastor Umo Eno, for confirmation, one month after the State Executive Council was dissolved.
The names of the Commissioners and Special Advisers-designate were contained in a message from Pastor Umo Eno, GHU/AKS/S/104/VOL.XII/145, dated 10th February 2025, addressed to the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Udeme Otong, urging the lawmakers to confirm the list of the 27 nominees.
The Clerk of the Assembly, Mrs. Nsikak Abasi Orok, read the message on the floor of the House during Tuesday’s plenary.
The nominees include:

– Princess Emem Ibanga – Nsit Atai
– Rt. Hon. Nsikak Ekong – Ikot Ekpene

The Governor’s message was received by the lawmakers following a motion moved by the Chief Whip, Rt. Hon. Sir Effiong Johnson, and seconded by the member representing INI State Constituency, Hon. Lawrence Udoide.
The Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Udeme Otong, mandated the House Committee on Judiciary, Justice, Human Rights, and Public Petitions, chaired by Hon. Aniefiok Attah, to screen the nominees and report back to the House within one week.
Meanwhile, the House has adjourned plenary to reconvene on Tuesday, 18th February 2025, at 10:00 a.m.
