Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen scored a hattrick for Galatasaray to power them to a 3-0 victory over Ajax on Wednesday, Soccernet.ng reports.
Going into Galatasaray’s game against Ajax at the Johan Cruyff Stadium, Osimhen had been in outstanding form for Galatasaray in the Champions League.
He had scored in his previous two games in the competition against Liverpool and Bodo Glimt.

He continued his impressive run against a struggling Ajax side in front of their home fans.
Galatasaray dominated the game from the blast of the whistle, with Osimhen forcing the goalkeeper to two saves in the opening 18 minutes. But, the first half eventually goalless despite multiple good looks at goal from both sides.

However, the goalscoring started in the second half. Victor Osimhen gave his side the lead in the 59th minute.
The 26-year-old Super Eagles striker once again showed his prowess with aerial balls, latching onto a cross from Leroy Sane and sending a well-placed header into Ajax’s net to make it 1-0.
In the 66th minute, Galatasaray doubled their lead. They won a penalty after a VAR review showed that Ajax’s Youri Baas had handled the ball in the box.
Osimhen then took charge of the spot-kick and sent a finish into the bottom-left corner to make it 2-0.
12 minutes later, the Super Eagles striker put the final nail in Ajax’s coffin, and it was from the spot once again, after Gerald Alders commited a foul in the box.
Osimhen was taken off for Mauro Icardi in the 81st minute, after an impressive showing. Both sides had a few sniffs at goal in the dying embers of the game, but it eventually ended 3-0 to Turkish champions.

He also became the first Galatasaray player, since Burak Yilmaz in 2012, to score a hattrick in a European competition.

With his hattrick, the former Napoli man now leads the goalscorers chart in the Champions League, with six goals in three appearances. Osimhen even has more goals than 14 clubs in the UEFA Champions League this season.
