Air Peace To Partner Ekiti On Flight Operations

2 hours ago 17

LAGOS – Dr Allen Onyema, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Air Peace, has commended Ekiti State for its operational efficiency of its Agro Allied International Cargo Airport, describing it as one of the best in the world.

Onyema, who landed at the airport on Saturday at about 10am in a Boeing 737 aircraft with 120 capacity, lauded the airport’s apron, runway, and terminal building, describing them as “highly functional and aesthetically pleasing.”

The Air Peace Boss noted that the facility’s readiness for international and domestic flights positions it as a critical infrastructure for the economic and social development of the state and the country at large.

According to Onyema, the airport is equipped to accommodate even larger aircraft such as B777.

He also assured the State Government of the airline’s readiness to partner with the airport on business development and opportunities as soon as the airport commences commercial operations.

He was optimistic that the airport would develop into a hub for pilgrims and travellers across the country.

He said: “This is the first time Boeing 737 aircraft will be coming to this airport and as an aviator, I can tell you categorically that this is one of the best airports in the world, we should stop neglecting our own.

“When I say one of the best in the world, I mean it because coming in, the pilot was communicating with me and I am reporting what the pilot said: that ‘this is one of the best runways’ he has ever seen. So, B777 aircraft can even land in this airport, it is just a matter of time and I am sure in no time Ekiti pilgrims might start flying from here because the airport can take Boeing 777 aircraft.”

In his comment, Air Vice Marshal Sunday Makinde, the Technical Adviser to the Governor on the Airport Project, said the seamless landing of a B737 aircraft was a clear testament to the airport’s readiness for full commercial operation.

Makinde added that the milestone demonstrated the airport’s capacity to handle large aircraft and deliver seamless aviation services.

Also, Mr. Taiwo Olatunbosun, the Commissioner for Information, Ekiti State, described the airport project as a transformative project for the state.

He said the landing of the B737 aircraft at the airport was a testament to the determination of the state government under the leadership of Governor Biodun Oyebanji, to enhance infrastructure development for economic growth and connectivity.

Also on ground to welcome the Air Peace delegation to the state was Mr. Dayo Apata, Commissioner for Justice and Attorney General of Ekiti State.
