Air Peace Flight Aborts Take-Off in Abuja Over Engine Failure

Passengers aboard an Air Peace flight from Abuja to Asaba narrowly escaped disaster on Friday when the aircraft experienced an engine failure during take-off preparations at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.

The incident occurred as the plane accelerated on the runway, nearing take-off, when a loud explosion and flashes of light startled passengers.

No fire broke out, and the pilot promptly aborted the take-off, safely taxiing the aircraft back to the terminal where all passengers were evacuated without incident.

Eyewitnesses reported panic among passengers, with some praying and singing in gratitude after the plane came to a stop.

A passenger, speaking to Zagazola Makama, recounted, “We were at full speed when a loud bang shook the plane, followed by a flash. The pilot stayed calm, informed us of the engine failure, and returned us to the terminal.”

As of this report, Air Peace had not released an official statement. Airport sources confirmed that engineers are inspecting the aircraft to identify the cause of the failure.

No injuries or damage were reported, and all safety protocols were followed during the evacuation.

The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) is expected to launch an investigation in line with standard aviation safety procedures.
