United States Ambassador, Mike Waltz, has invited American rapper, Nicki Minaj, to the United Nations after she publicly supported President Donald Trump’s recent comments on Nigeria.
Waltz, in a post shared on his X handle on Saturday, praised Minaj for using her influence to raise awareness about issues affecting Christians in Nigeria. He extended an invitation to the rapper to visit the US Embassy to the United Nations in New York for further discussions.
He wrote, “@NICKIMINAJ, thank you for using your platform to speak out in defense of the Christians being affected in Nigeria. We cannot allow this to continue. Every brother and sister of Christ must band together and say, ‘Enough!’.

“If you ever find yourself in New York, come by the US Embassy to the United Nations. I would love to speak with you in more depth about what our administration is doing to protect Christians’ freedoms all over the world.”
The ambassador’s invitation came shortly after Minaj reacted to President Trump’s announcement designating Nigeria as a “country of particular concern.”
The president had made the declaration in a statement shared on his Truth Social platform, saying the situation in Nigeria required urgent attention.
Trump claimed that Christianity was facing an “existential threat” in Nigeria and said the country had been added to the list of nations of concern under his administration.
He wrote, “Christianity is facing an existential threat in Nigeria. Thousands of Christians are being killed. Radical groups are responsible for this mass slaughter. I am hereby making Nigeria a ‘country of particular concern.’”
Trump also issued a warning that US could suspend assistance to Nigeria and consider possible military action if the killings continued.
He stated, “If the Nigerian Government continues to allow the killing of Christians, the USA will immediately stop all aid and assistance to Nigeria, and may very well go into that now disgraced country, ‘guns-a-blazing,’ to completely wipe out the Islamic Terrorists who are committing these horrible atrocities.
“I am hereby instructing our Department of War to prepare for possible action. If we attack, it will be fast, vicious, and sweet, just like the terrorist thugs attack our cherished Christians.”
Reacting to the declaration, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu rejected the comments and urged calm. He described the remarks as unnecessary, adding that the Nigerian government remained capable of managing its internal security affairs.
Minaj, in her post on X on Saturday, commended Trump for his position and expressed gratitude for what she called a stand on freedom of worship.
She wrote, “Reading this made me feel a deep sense of gratitude. We live in a country where we can freely worship God. No group should ever be attacked for practising their religion. We don’t have to share the same beliefs in order for us to respect each other.”
She added, “Numerous countries around the world are being affected by this horror, and it’s dangerous to pretend we don’t notice. Thank you to The President and his team for taking this seriously. God bless every affected Christian. Let’s remember to lift them up in prayer.”
