The Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF) has announced the preliminary roster for D’Tigers ahead of the third window of the 2025 FIBA AfroBasket Qualifiers with no less than 11 players from the domestic scene named in the 24-man roster.
The tournament is set to take place in Tripoli, Libya, from February 17 to 24, 2025.
The team’s preparations will be conducted in two phases. The first phase will see home-based players report to camp at Bentley Hotel, Abuja, on Monday, February 10, for a week-long training session that runs until February 16. They will later be joined by foreign-based players in Tripoli on February 17 for the final phase of preparation and the competition.
D’Tigers will once again be led by head coach Abdulrahman Mohammed, who successfully guided the team in the first qualification window. He will be assisted by former Nigerian international Deji Akindele and Isikaku Ikenna Smart, an assistant coach with the NBA’s Portland Trail Blazers.
With a strong mix of local and international talent, D’Tigers will aim to build on their performance from the previous qualification window and secure their place at the 2025 FIBA AfroBasket Championship.
