African big business owners and their Turkish counterparts have moved to deepen economic and business ties between the European country and African countries.
At the just concluded Turkey-Africa Business and Economic Forum held in Istanbul recently, the participants agreed to exchange notes in order to build stronger economy for Africa and Turkey.
Ifeanyi Onukwubiri, chief executive officer of TMT Travels and Tours Limited, who participated at the forum as a delegate from Nigeria-Turkey Business Council, disclosed that the workshop had in attendance over 50 countries from Africa, with over 1500 Chief Executive Officers taking parts in brainstorming sessions.
Onukwubiri, who is the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of Nigeria-Turkey Business Council disclosed that the over 5000 participants agreed to “strengthen business to business links and public – private cooperation for inclusive growth in both Africa and Turkey.”
He said: “The just concluded Turkey-Africa Business and Economic Forum which held between October 16 and 17 in Istanbul Turkey had in attendance the President of Turkey, his wife and Turkey’s Minister of Trade. A Commissioner at African Union and Vice President of South Africa were also in attendance. The whole essence was leveraging Turkey-African relations for mutual gains. It was about trade and investment partnerships across all sectors.
“The Forum aimed at economic and business ties between Turkey and African countries and over 5000 participants attended. 50 African countries participated. It was a serious business platform where 1500 chief Executive Officers came together, talked frankly to themselves and resolved to strengthen the business relationships between Turkey and African countries.
“My group did a presentation for Nigeria. Our paper was presented by Aisha Wando, the Deputy Director of Nigeria Investment Promotion Commission. We had Dele Oye, the Chairman of Nigeria Turkey Business Council, Uche Osoka, the Director General Nigerian Turkey Business Council and Olutoye Ariyo, CEO and chairman Voyage Oil taking part too.
“The event also discussed about investment opportunities in Nigeria as a win situation for Nigeria and investors. We are happy that we came back with ample knowledge and links that strengthen Nigeria’s economy in the areas of trade, investment and tourism.”
