The head coach of the Super Eagles, Augustine Eguavoen has opted for a 3-4-3 formation for Nigeria’s 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying fixture against the Cheetahs of Benin Republic.
Chippa United goalkeeper, Stanley Nwabali will be between the sticks.
Captain William Troost-Ekong, Semi Ajayi and Calvin Bassey will feature as centre-backs.
Nottingham Forest star, Ola Aina and Bruno Onyemaechi will play as the two wing-backs.
Wilfred Ndidi and Alex Iwobi will operate from the midfield.
Bayer Leverkusen’s Victor Boniface will lead the attack and will be supported by Ademola Lookman and Samuel Chukwueze.
Eguavoen Insists Osimhen’s Place In Super Eagles’ Starting Eleven Not Guaranteed
Eguavoen has suggested that he won’t give the team’s talisman, Victor Osimhen, an express starting shirt.
Recall that the Super Eagles are set to face the Republic of Benin in a 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo at 5 p.m. later today, September 7.
Ahead of the game, coach Eguavoen is expected to decide on starting Victor Osimhen ahead of other attacking options who arrived at the training camp before him.
Osimhen, who recently joined Galatasaray on loan, was the last player to join the Super Eagles camp as he was busy trying to resolve his transfer saga.
