Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has appointed Ms. Oluwatosin Adejumo, a street puff-puff vendor, as one of the chefs at the Government House in Osogbo.
The governor made the announcement on his official X handle, where he also revealed that Adejumo’s parents received ₦2 million each.
Adejumo, who holds a Nigerian Certificate in Education (NCE) and professional catering training, first caught the governor’s attention during a recent labour rally in Osogbo. At the event, Adeleke purchased her entire tray of puff-puff for ₦50,000 and promised to support her career.
Fulfilling that pledge, the governor presented her appointment letter and further awarded her a scholarship up to the Master’s level, should she choose to further her education.
“Today, I fulfilled that promise by officially presenting her appointment letter as one of our Government House chefs. Beyond this employment, I have also granted her a scholarship. Her story is a powerful reminder that hard work and dedication never go unnoticed,” Adeleke said.
He added that his administration remains committed to recognising and rewarding excellence among young people in Osun State.
A video shared by the governor showed his encounter with Adejumo at the rally, where she disclosed her catering background before being offered the new role.
