Adekunle Gold Responds To Critic Calling Him Ugly

The Nigerian singer and composer Adekunle Gold has responded to a critic who made a disparaging remark about his appearance.

Using an old photo of Adekunle and his wife Simi, the critic, who went as Dami Foreign on X, asked how he was able to capture her heart in spite of being “broke and ugly.”

“How did Adekunle Gold win Simi’s heart when he was broke and ugly?” the post read.

In response, the “Party No Dey Stop” singer retweeted the image with a straightforward caption, “I was never ugly.”

In 2015, Gold became well-known for his popular song “Sade” and his high-life rendition of One Direction’s “Story of My Life.” The vocalist has been recognized for his art and won multiple honors.

He signed with Olamide’s musical label, YBNL, in 2015 but left in 2022. He joined the Def Jam Recordings label in March 2023.

In addition, he is the owner of the Afro Urban Records record label. In 2018, Gold and Simi got married, and in June 2020, they welcomed their first child.
