Ex-Minister of State for Defence, Malam Lawal Batagarawa, says the African Democratic Congress (ADC) will defeat President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 elections.
Speaking on Trust Television’s 30-minute programme with Mannir Dan-Ali on Saturday, Batagarawa said the Tinubu-led government has failed in its primary responsibilities, particularly in providing security and fixing the economy.
According to him, Nigerians are suffering due to poor governance and failed policies.

He said, “This government is grossly underperforming in the field of governance. It is grossly underperforming in the most basic responsibility of government of providing security for life and property. The government is failing in that respect.”

Batagarawa stressed that insecurity has worsened across the country, blaming hunger and inflation for fuelling banditry and terrorism.
He also criticised the administration’s economic reforms, particularly subsidy removal and the naira float, which he argued have deepened poverty.
“Everything he (Tinubu) is proud of saying he has done has pushed the economy into a tailspin. So how can you be destroying your own economy and be proud of it?” he queried.
On the 2027 elections, Batagarawa dismissed fears that ADC might struggle against Tinubu’s political alliances.
He maintained that democracy allows every party to mobilise and convince voters, insisting that hard work and grassroots mobilisation will give ADC an edge.
“Ultimately, politics is about resolving conflicts, putting interests together, and convincing people that we are a better representative of your interest than the other person,” he said.
