ADC Leadership Transition Completed, No Legal Battle

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has dismissed claims of any ongoing court case against it over alleged leadership disputes.

The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, made the clarification on Wednesday,  during an interview on Politics Today, a programme on Channels Television.

Abdullahi said, “We are not aware that anybody is in court against ADC.

What we have is the completion of the administrative process of changing the leadership of the ADC.”

He added, “People sometimes hold press conferences and make claims as well as threats. But in the end, they know they can’t follow the hollowness of their standing.”

He further stressed that the party remains committed to internal democracy, noting, “ADC has always ensured that leadership transitions are conducted in line with our constitution and legal processes.

“There is no room for arbitrary claims or disruption.”

The statement follows the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) officially recognising the leadership of the ADC on Wednesday.

INEC confirmed former Senate President David Mark as the party’s National Chairman and former Minister of Interior Rauf Aregbesola as its National Secretary.

Abdullahi emphasised that INEC’s recognition validates the party’s administrative process, stating, “The recognition by INEC affirms that the ADC leadership under Mark and Aregbesola is legitimate and ready to take the party forward.”

He also warned against attempts to politicise the party’s internal matters, saying, “Those seeking to exploit imaginary disputes for political gain will find no footing in ADC.”
