The national Chief Whip of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Festus Igbinoba, has sworn to reclaim power from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo State, declaring that the claim that the party has no footing in the state was completely false.

Igbinoba said APC’s claim that it has no opposition in Edo is a hoax, vowing that ADC will claim the state in the next election.

Addressing journalists in Benin shortly after the unveiling of the party in the South-south, Igbinoba boasted, “Next election for the governorship in Edo state is a deal done. ADC has already taken it over, even before the election, “

According to him, the APC-led government, both at the national and Edo state, by the grace of God, would brace up and tackle hunger and insecurity that have bedevilled the country.

Igbinoba however acknowledged the Planning Committee’s incredible dedication to orchestrating an event that not only showcased unity but also exemplified the collective vision and steadfast commitment to the party’s growth in Edo State.

He also extended special recognition to the Chief Host, the amiable and hardworking State Chairman, Mr Kennedy Odion, whose tireless efforts to strengthen the ADC at the grassroots level have been pivotal

Odion’s strategic initiatives and unyielding support have been essential in amplifying the party’s voice throughout Edo State, cementing ADC’s relevance in local politics.

The National Chief Whip also took a moment to appreciate the solidarity exhibited by distinguished party leaders. Notably, elder statesman and renowned political figure John Odigie-Oyegun, whose extensive career and exceptional leadership skills bring invaluable wisdom and prestige to the party, serves as an inspiration for party members and non-members.

Additionally, he praised the significant contributions of the party’s National Legal Advisor, Prof. Oserheimen Osumbor.

His legal expertise and insightful guidance have been foundational in ensuring that the ADC operates within a robust legal structure, safeguarding the interests of its members.

Mr Igbinoba also recognised Dr Isaih Osifo, a respected elder within the ADC in Edo, commending him for his strategic guidance and steadfast dedication to the development of the party, which has played an indispensable role in shaping its local strategies.

In a broader context, he highlighted the unwavering commitment of the National Vice Chairman of the South-South Zone, Usani Uguru Usani, along with other zonal leadership members whose collaborative efforts bolster the party’s influence in the zone.

He also expressed deep appreciation for Mabel Oboh, the former ADC governorship candidate in 2020, and now the Assistant Publicity Secretary for the South-South Zone.

“Her relentless media coordination and zeal for enhancing the party’s visibility continue to resonate across various platforms, significantly impacting public perception,” he declared.

Also speaking during the briefing, Mabel Oboh, the Assistant Publicity Secretary of the South-South Zone of the party, said ADC is ready to take the mantle of leadership from the ruling party in the state.

She said the south-south region of the country that Edo state falls into is unique in Nigerian politics. So, all efforts will be made to ensure ADC captures it in its subsequent elections.

On the part of the state chairman of the party, Mr Kennedy Odion, he said the party remains committed to promoting credible leadership, good governance, and policies that uplift every Edo citizen,
irrespective of political affiliation

“Your dedication demonstrates that when we put the interests of the people first, meaningful collaboration becomes not just possible but powerful.

“As we move forward, let us remember that our true strength lies in our ability to work together.

“The ADC remains committed to promoting credible leadership, good governance, and policies that uplift every Edo citizen, irrespective of political affiliation,” Odion said.

Speaking also, the state secretary of the party, Mr Charles Imuentiyan, said anybody who comes to join the party will be given equal opportunity as there is neither a newcomer nor an old member.
