In furtherance of its commitments to protect the environment and global action against climate change, a nongovernmental organization known as Justice Development and Peace Initiative( JDPI)), has flagged off massive tree planting campaign in Hong and Madagali local government areas of Adamawa state battered by activities of Boko Haram insurgency.
Speaking at the ceremony held in both Michika and Madagali local Government, Monday, the programme manager of JPDI, Mr. Joseph Thomas, said the initiative is being funded by Caritas BMC Germany and is being implemented by the organisation.
He said the efforts are geared towards strengthening the resilience of vulnerable households in the conflict affected communities in Northern Nigeria and Northern Cameroon in line with global warming and fight against climate change.
He stated that under this intervention over seven thousand, seven hundred and twenty six trees of various varieties and economic importance will be planted in various communities of Hong and Michika local governments to tackle the challenges of flooding and other environmental degradation.
