National Chairman of the Association of Community Pharmacists of Nigeria, (ACPN), Pharm. Ambrose Igwekamma Ezeh, has advocated urgent need for structured career progression paths in community pharmacy.
Pharm Ezeh made the call weekend while speaking at a programme themed: “Pharmacy Forward: Performance, Collaboration and Health Transformation.”
He expressed concerns on the current status of community pharmacists in Nigeria, in his presentation titled “Standardization: Career Progression Ratings for Community Pharmacists in Nigeria”.
Pharm Ezeh stressed that “To address these critical issues, the ACPN has established an Accreditation and Standardization Comm Pharmacists Assessment and Career Progression”
“This pioneering institution aims to promote excellence in community pharmacy practice through a strict and career progression system,” he said
Pharm Ezeh outlined several challenges currently faced by community pharmacists as metrics and the evolving healthcare landscape, visional development and retains talent.
He reiterated the importance of the Community Pharmacists Career Progression Scheme support, and the elevation of the practice of community pharmacy visibility and impact in the healthcare sector.
