AC Milan meet with star’s agents

After a largely disappointing end to the 2023/24 Premier League campaign, Ange Postecoglou appears acutely aware of his own responsibilities, and those of his Tottenham players.

If the Lilywhites want to ensure that they remain in the upper echelons of the English top-flight and are challenging for a Champions League place at worst next season, then it’s clear certain players need to be moved on to allow for others to be brought in.

To that end, CaughtOffside sources indicate that AC Milan have held a new meeting with the agents of Tottenham’s 25-year-old Brazilian right-back, Emerson Royal.

Tottenham ace Emerson Royal is in demand

Of his 25 appearances in all competitions for the North Londoners last season, only nine of them were for the entire 90 minutes, according to WhoScored.

That would indicate that Ange Postecoglou doesn’t really fancy Emerson Royal as a player and why Tottenham are planning to sell him in the summer transfer window.

From the player’s point of view, he’s prioritising a switch to either Serie A or back to La Liga.

Sources have also indicated that Bundesliga giants, Bayern Munich, have registered their interest along with both Inter Milan and Juventus.

Tottenham are understood to have set a price tag of €30m for the player, but those clubs from Serie A consider that to be a little on the high side.

As a result, both Inter Milan and AC Milan have indicated that they would be open to a loan deal for Emerson with the option of permanent purchase.

Spurs are also believed to be following Davide Frattesi from Inter Milan, and could be set to make a player-plus-cash offer for the 24-year-old that would include Emerson Royal in the deal.

That won’t necessarily rule out rivals AC Milan as long as they’re able to move quickly.

Should the Rossoneri fail to secure the player, however, they’ll be expected to move for Lille’s 21-year-old Portuguese right-back, Tiago Santos.
