Abuja creative city: Nigeria to emulate Dubai Media City, Techhub London, others – Minister

The Minister of Art, Culture, Tourism and the Creative Economy (FMACTCE) Barr. Hannatu Musa Musawa has revealed that the Abuja Creative City (ACC) project will offer world-class infrastructure, drawing inspiration from global creative hubs like NEOM, Dubai Media City, and Techhub London.

Barr. Musawa, who said this at the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with creative hub in Abuja, said ACC will be a benchmark for sustainable development, employing the latest renewable technologies and endorsing minimal environmental impact.

The city, she said, seeks to celebrate Nigeria’s history, showcasing arts, music, film and many more creative expressions while making it Africa’s cultural flagship centre.

According to her, the project is part of President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and is expected to bring benefits for investors such as tax incentives, while there are plans to introduce reduced rates for water, electricity, and other utilities in the setting up of the initial phase of the project.

She said the ACC will also offer benefits such as streamlining business registration, licensing, and operations processes, making the city an attractive destination for global enterprises.

Also, Director of the creative hub, Bayo Omoboriowo noted that in a world where the future is now, Nigeria stands on the precipice of a transformative era. The days of being told they were merely the “giants” of tomorrow are behind them.

“Today, the nation has decided to stop waiting for the future to arrive; it is creating its own future, one moment at a time. The realization has set in: they are not for the future alone, but for the now,” he said.
