The new Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Akwa Ibom State, Dr Anieti Udofia, has resumed duty and was received by Mrs Grace Akpan, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry.
The Commissioner expressed appreciation and charged the staff to maintain the bond of togetherness and team spirit in the discharge of the tasks and programmes of the Ministry.
Dr Udofia, commended the Permanent Secretary for her commitment and dedication as portrayed in his interaction with her since he was posted to the Ministry on Monday soon after his inauguration and expressed the hope that all staff of the Ministry will team up with the Permanent Secretary to enable the Ministry to deliver on its mandate as enshrined in the ARISE Agenda.
He pledged to take the Ministry to higher heights by consolidating and expanding on the achievements of his predecessor and kinsman, Sir Charles Udoh and hoped to draw from his wealth of experience.
Earlier, the Permanent Secretary had said she was handing-over to the new Commissioner, a payroll of 122 vibrant and highly motivated staff, who are punctual to work and very committed to their daily assigned duties and activities.
Mrs. Akpan acknowledged as a cash cow globally is utilized for the development of most economies, adding, “Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has placed Tourism on the pinnacle of his development blueprint- the ARISE Agenda, therefore, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, is on a fast lane to deliver on its mandate.”
Mrs. Akpan, therefore, welcomed the Commissioner to the Ministry and pledged the cooperation of all staff in their collective vision of turning around the fortunes of the Ministry to enviable heights.
