One person has been confirmed dead while five others sustained varying degrees of injuries after a Lexus Jeep rammed into two tricycles at Obosi, Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State.
The tragic accident occurred at about 6:30 a.m. on Saturday along People’s Club–Limca Road, ahead of the scheduled by-elections for Anambra South Senatorial District and Onitsha North I State Constituency.
According to eyewitness accounts, the occupants of the vehicle, suspected to be security operatives, immediately fled the scene with their rifles upon realizing the severity of the crash.

Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer in Anambra State, Tochukwu Ikenga, stated that the vehicle had been recovered, while the Commissioner of Police, Ikioye Orutugu, has ordered a full-scale investigation into the matter.
Ikenga explained, “The jeep rammed into the tricycles, leading to the death of one person, while others sustained injuries. The victims were rushed to the hospital, where one was later confirmed dead.”
He further clarified that preliminary enquiries revealed the Lexus Jeep does not belong to any recognized security agency operating in the state.
The police spokesperson appealed for calm, assuring residents that investigations are ongoing to uncover the true circumstances surrounding the incident.
