Seven workers pulled out alive as building under construction collapses in Bauchi

Panic swept through Bauchi on Tuesday after part of an uncompleted storeyed building under construction on Sir Kashim Ibrahim Street collapsed around 3 pm, trapping seven workers on site.

Residents and motorists rushed to the scene to offer help before emergency responders arrived.

Deputy Director of the Bauchi State Fire Service, Dauda Pali, confirmed the incident, saying his team moved immediately after receiving a distress call.

“By 3 pm, we were alerted to a building collapse at Sir Kashim Ibrahim Street, GRA, Bauchi. When we arrived, we verified the report and commenced rescue efforts without delay,” he said.

Pali disclosed that all seven trapped workers were rescued alive and taken to the hospital.

“Every worker was brought out safely and they have been taken for medical attention,” he said.

He added that the agency has begun probing the cause of the collapse.

“We will investigate what led to the incident. Contractors must adhere strictly to engineering standards to avoid future disasters,” he said.
