Group passes confidence vote on NSCDC boss Audi, seeks tenure extension 



A group, Stay Alert Human Right Awareness Initiative, has passed a vote of  confidence in the leadership of Prof. Ahmed Abubakar Audi,   Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).

In press statement Tuesday signed by its Executive Director Hon. Lary Onah and Director of Information Chief Isdor Nwadike, the group lauded the NSCDC for leadership and commitment to duty.

They said his tenure is marked with remarkable achievements and innovation that has moved the corps forward.

“Since his appointment in 2021, Prof. Audi has demonstrated exceptional leadership, dedication, and commitment to the Corps’ core mandate of protecting lives and property, aligning with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

“His tenure has been marked by significant achievements, including the enhancement of Critical Infrastructure Protection, Agro Rangers Programs, Disaster Management and Emergency Response, and Private Guard Company Regulations,” they said.

They called on President Ahmed Tinubu to extend his tenure, allowing him to continue the good work he is doing in the security sector of Nigeria.

According to the group, Prof. Audi’s leadership has led to the growth and development of the Corps, with notable improvements in officer training and capacity building, infrastructure development, and uniform upgrades. 

“His commitment to gender parity and inclusivity has created a more diverse and effective organization.

“We recognize Prof. Audi’s professionalism, hard work, transparency, and accountability, and believe that his continued leadership is crucial for the continued success and growth of the NSCDC and the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” they said.

They urged the Federal Government to renew his appointment, recognizing his outstanding service and the value he brings to the Corps and Nigeria at large.

They disclosed that Stay Alert Human Right Awareness Initiative, along with over 50 other human rights organizations, have concluded plans to march to the presidency to plead with the president to extend the tenure of the Commandant for a safer society.
