Osun Doesn’t Deserve a Dancing Governor – Omisore Knocks Adeleke

Former Deputy Governor and Senator Iyiola Omisore has declared that Osun State “does not deserve a dancing governor,” in a blistering critique of incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke’s leadership style as he formally launched his 2026 governorship bid on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Speaking to journalists shortly after submitting his expression of interest and nomination forms at the APC national secretariat in Abuja on Monday, Omisore argued that governance is a serious endeavour that should never be reduced to entertainment or theatrics.

“Osun does not deserve a dancing governor,” Omisore stated emphatically. “Public office requires depth, discipline, and focus.

No leader who truly appreciates the weight of governance trivialises it with choreography. Leadership is not a show; it demands clarity of mind and purpose. Governance is not salesmanship or entertainment, it requires substance.”

The former Osun East Senator, who also served as APC National Secretary, insisted that constant dancing in the corridors of power projects a lack of seriousness and undermines the gravity of the state’s challenges.

Drawing on his own extensive political resume deputy governor over two decades ago, senator, and party national officer, Omisore presented himself as the experienced, visionary leader Osun needs.

“Experience cannot be bought. Just like wine, the older it gets, the richer it becomes,” he said.

“Osun is fortunate at this point to have someone with my depth offering himself again.”

In an unusually direct personal attack, Omisore declared that Governor Adeleke lacks the capacity to even serve in a competent administration.

“Let me be frank with you: if I were governor, I could not appoint him as a commissioner, not even for information,” he said.

“That shows the extent of the challenges we have faced over the last three years.”Omisore highlighted collapsing education and health sectors, poor road infrastructure, and the state’s damaged reputation as urgent priorities that demand experienced hands.

Another APC governorship aspirant and former Deputy Governor, Chief Benedict Olugboyega Alabi, echoed similar concerns after submitting his own forms.

Alabi accused the Adeleke administration of glaring neglect of critical sectors, particularly education and healthcare.

“Performance is relative, and the facts on the ground are clear,” Alabi said. “While we see bridges and roads, there is hardly any progress in education or healthcare. When my administration employed 2,500 teachers, it only partially addressed a 7,500-teacher shortfall. Yet after three years, Adeleke’s government has not employed a single teacher. Thousands of young people are being denied quality education.”

With nine aspirants now in the APC primary race, Omisore expressed confidence in the party’s internal process, declaring: “By God’s grace, when we conclude, I will emerge as the candidate.”
