Zulum approves N706.5m scholarship for Borno students 



 

The Borno State Scholarship Board has announced a major boost for indigenous students, following Governor Babagana Umara Zulum’s approval of N706,594,787.50 for various scholarship categories within and outside Nigeria.

The executive secretary of the board, Malam Mala Isa, said the intervention is another clear demonstration of Governor Zulum’s commitment to education, human capital development, and the welfare of Borno students.

He said the approval covers several categories, including 300 orphans of the fallen CJTF heroes, fulfilling government’s promise that the sacrifices of their parents will never be forgotten. 

206 students of the Federal University of Health Sciences, Azare, under the Borno State Special Scholarship Scheme,  34 students of Al-Ansar University, Maiduguri.

Others include repatriated students from Sudan, to help them regain their academic stability after the crisis and 104 nursing students writing their professional exams at the College of Nursing Sciences, Maiduguri. 

There are also an upkeep allowance for 523 nursing students for five months and second tranche payment for 304 STEM postgraduate students studying in Nigerian universities.

The executive secretary stated that the board remains committed to transparency, accountability, and timely disbursement of all approved funds, assuring that every naira will reach the beneficiaries without delay.
